Robert John Gall was born October 20, 1963 to George and Marge Layman Gall in Iowa City. He attended school in Russell. John had worked in the Attica coal mine and also in construction. Over the last several years he had been doing handyman work in Newton.
John loved helping his friends and neighbors often having some of his older neighbors over for dinners and helping with things they couldn’t do themselves. John also loved to hunt in his younger years and truly enjoyed the outdoors. He was a good father and loved spending time with his children.
John passed away in Newton on December 18, 2010. He was preceded in death by his father, George Gall; and grandparents: John & Mary Layman and Jacob & Louise Gall.
John is survived by his children: Shawn (Sherry) James, Shane Gall, Shad Gall, Cherokee Gall, and Celene Gall all of Newton; mother of his children and special friend, Betty Johnson of Newton; parents: Marge & Jim Secor of Chariton; three grandchildren; siblings: Richard (Glenda) Gall, Larry Gall, Terry (Cindy) Gall, Marianne (Joe) Warwick, Brenda (Donnie McGee) Moore, Jake (Jody) Gall, and Dana Gall Secor; and his good friend Joe McCombs along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
