Central climbs in softball rankings

PELLA—After returning from Arizona riding an eight-game win streak, the Central College softball team climbed four spots to a tie for 17th in the NFCA Division III Top 25 coaches’ poll.
The Dutch (12-4) share 17th with Kean College (N.J.). Defending champion Virginia Wesleyan, winner of the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic in Tucson March 2-4, remains a unanimous choice for No. 1 at 14-0. Iowa Conference rival Luther College (8-1) is at No. 9.
Central competed in the Leadoff Classic, then played 10 games in the Tucson Invitational Games. Three of Central’s four losses were to teams listed in the top 25. The Dutch are off until their home season opener Wednesday, March 28 against Grinnell College.
