Trio to Compete at Nationals

Oskaloosa–Three Statesmen men’s track and field athletes will be seeking glory Friday as they compete at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
Tristen Elmore (So., Ovied, Fla., Physical Education), Derek Robinson (Sr., Jenks, Okla., Communications), and Mofiyinfoluwa Alade (Fr., Hoffman Estates, Ill.) will all perform in their respective field events on Friday afternoon. The trio will face the nation’s best in the Robert W. Plaster Center on the campus of Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kan.
The events go back-to-back-to-back on Friday with Robinson starting the navy and gold off in the weight throw at noon. The senior enters nationals ranked #21 in the NAIA with a season-long toss 55-6.5, while Erik Escobedo of Bethel (Ind.) is the nation’s best thrower at 70-6.5.
High jumpers Elmore and Alade will follow at 2 p.m. Elmore is currently second in the nation with a season-best jump of 6-9, while Alade is tied for 11th at 6-8. Calvin Korver of Northwestern ranks first nationally at 6-9.5.
Elmore will unfortunately not get any rest as he is right back to action in the long jump at 4 p.m. The sophomore is ninth in the NAIA at 23-5.25, while Jordan Downs (Bethel-Ind.) is first at 26-1.5.
