Free Bully-Proof Workshop for All 5th Grade Girls

Girl Scouts

To Be Held January 15, 2011 at William Penn University

Have you or someone you know ever felt confused, sad, angry, or alone because of other girls? Have you ever been, or have you ever seen a girl become hurt or betrayed by one of her friends?

Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa is presenting a free Bully-Proof Workshop for all 5th grade girls. This program will be held locally at William Penn University on January 15, 2011. Registration forms are being sent home through the county schools, and are due to United Way of Mahaska County office by January 4, 2011. A Special Grant through United Way of Mahaska County is partially funding the program.

Bully-Proof will equip and inspire girls to develop and succeed in having healthy friendships and relationships. Girls who participate in this interactive workshop will have LOTS of fun as they learn what to do in uncomfortable situations with other girls. They will also receive a pocket guide containing helpful reminders of what they have learned as encouragement to continue to practice the Bully-Proof strategies.

Volunteers are also needed. Before each workshop, Girl Scouts is offering a training course for registered adults only! After the training, you will be equipped to help facilitate the girl workshop. The volunteer role in Bully-Proof is straightforward, fun and extremely important to the girls.
