Ottumwa Swims Past Oskaloosa

The Oskaloosa Indian Swim team traveled to Ottumwa to take on the Bulldogs Tuesday night. They came up short on defeating them as they were outnumbered by a final score of 83-60 but the team competed hard and came away with some good times.

Oskaloosa sent 2 teams to the 200 Medley Relay and they were split up evenly as the team of Owen Gordon, Carson Abrahamson, Carson Breon, and Nicholas Koenig took second place honors in a time of 2:02.01 and the team of Jack Dawson, Jack Miller, Colin Fiechtner, and Anthony Chavez took third place honors in a time of 2:04.82.

The next event on the night was the 200 IM as Jack Miller and Jack Dawson dove immediately back into the pool and Miller came away with the first-place finish in a time of 2:16.14 and Dawson finished in a time of 2:33.63.

In the 50 Free the Indians sent Owen Gordon who swam a time of 25.64 for a second-place finish and Anthony Chavez who finished in a time of 37.50.

In the 100 Fly Osky sent Carson Breon as he finished in a time of 58.50(school record) for a first-place finish and Colin Fiechtner who finished in a time of 1:08.72.

Next event was the 100 Free as Oskaloosa sent Jack Miller who finished in a time of 55.22 for a second-place finish and Nicholas Koenig who finished in a time of 1:18.10.

For the long grueling 500 Free race the Indians sent Owen Gordon who swam a time of 5:41.09 to earn another first-place finish for the team.

The next relay, 200 Freestyle, the Indians again sent 2 teams to compete as the team of Carson Breon, Jack Dawson, Jarod Miller, and Jack Miller finished in a time of 1:38.44 for a second-place finish and the team of Colin Fiechtner, Carson Abrahamson, Anthony Chavez, and Nicholas Koenig finished in a time of 2:05.05 and came in 4th out of the 6 teams.

In the 100 Back, Carson Breon swam a 1:01.68 for a first place finished and was followed by Colin Fiechtner who finished in a time of 1:08.76.

The last individual race of the night was the 100 Breast and Jack Dawson swam a 1:11.77 for a second-place finish and Carson Abrahamson swam a 1:18.69 for a 4th place finish.

The final event of the night was the 400 Free Relay as the team of Owen Gordon, Nicholas Koenig, Anthony Chavez, and Jarod Miller swam a 4:45.58 to earn the second-place finish.

Next up for the Indians is the meet at the Indianola YMCA on Saturday as they swim against Grinnell, Newton, and Indianola area teams.
