Mary Ellen Whitsel, 68, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, November 2, 2017, at her home in Oskaloosa. She was born Friday, September 2, 1949, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Jesse and Edith Gilbert Whitsel.

Mary was united in marriage to Lynn Molenburg and they later divorced. She later married Ray Langstraat and they divorced.

Mary was a homemaker her whole life. She raised and sold parakeets and sold Tupperware for a time.

She is survived by her son, Lance Langstraat of Ft. Madison; a granddaughter, Emily Comstock of Oskaloosa; two brothers: (Roy) Gene Whitsel of Eddyville and Jesse Elsworth Whitsel of Ft. Dodge; and a niece and several nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons: Bobby Molenburg, Roger Molenburg and Ray Langstraat, Jr.; two granddaughters: Echo (Ekatrina) Molenburg and Calayna Molenburg; a grandson: Buzz (Atrayel) Molenburg; and two half-brothers: Chuck and Bobby Whitsel.

As was her wish, Mary’s body has been cremated.
No funeral service is planned at this time.
A visitation will be held at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, from 2-4 P.M. and the family will be present during that time to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to her family.
