Yates Running Unopposed For Ward 3 Council Seat
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Doug Yates is running unopposed for the Oskaloosa City Council in Ward 3. Unless a write-in campaign is launched, Yates will start his third term in office January 1.
Yates has been a part of the Oskaloosa community for a little over ten years and has been with Musco for over 20 years.
Yates has been on the council for 8 of those years in Oskaloosa.
When it comes to a long-term vision for Oskaloosa, Yates says his view for the next four years is “to stay the course of what we’ve worked on. We’ve been doing a lot of good things for the city, but we have some real needs. We have infrastructure needs whether it’s on top of the dirt with roads, or underneath with our utilities. They’re not the glamorous projects like I would call a fire station or the early childhood development center.”
Yates said his goal is doing those projects in a “fiscally responsible manner. We have to deal with them. We’re an aging community in regards to our infrastructure.”
Yates is unopposed but believes much like Ottosson, that the mark next to his name is a sign of confidence. “I would certainly like anybody that comes to the polls to show their support, that hopefully the things we’ve been doing the last eight years gives me the confidence to continue doing it for another four years.
“We need to exercise that privilege we’ve been given,” said Yates of encouraging others to vote on November 7th.
