Supervisors OK Road Work
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors held a short meeting on Friday to approve a secondary road project.
The project is the one that raised some concerns west of New Sharon and could have potentially caused residents in the Peoria area to encounter long detours, as county roads G5 and T33 would have been closed for reconstruction.
A workaround was devised, and the road will be resurfaced with asphalt.
Norris Asphalt won the contract with a bid of $1,740,263.16 and was below the estimate for the cost of the project.
The motion passed on a 2-0 vote due to Mark Groenendyk being absent from the meeting.
