Friday After Five Wraps Up For The Summer
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Cody Hicks, a local country music favorite from Montezuma, had the square in downtown Oskaloosa filled with a mix of his latest hits and all-time favorites.
The concert and community gathering marks the end of another year for the Oskaloosa tradition.
Crystal Boender, a spokesperson for the event, talked about the work that the Friday After Five committee put in during the past year to host the bands and community members.
This year, Friday After Five was held on the first Friday of each month, with the exception of July, due to the holiday weekend. The event planning also looked at other scheduled events in the county to help minimize conflicts.
Besides Cody Hicks, Fatal Addiction and Small Town Superheros played at previous evenings. Each band has their own large local followings.
When the last note of the evening is played, Boender said the committee will take a week off “after we get through tonight,” and then start making plans for 2018.
Boender thanked the work of the committee on the summer events. She also thanked the many local businesses “that really step up to sponsor these events.”
