Phyllis J. Lang, 72, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born Tuesday, April 10, 1945, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Hershell and Edith Burns McAdoo.

Phyllis attended school in Oskaloosa. Early on, Phyllis was united in marriage to David Kirk. To this union four children were born, Chris, Leo, Lori and David. David and Phyllis later divorced. She later was united in marriage to Wes Hibler and he died in 1994. On April 19, 1997, Phyllis was united in marriage to James Lang in Las Vegas, Nevada and James died February 9, 2017.

Phyllis worked in housekeeping at Mahaska Hospital for several years and later owned the Trade Winds Bar in Oskaloosa. For 17 years, Phyllis worked as the kitchen manager at Tasos’ in Oskaloosa, retiring from there in April 2016.

Phyllis was a member of the Oskaloosa Eagles, American Legion and V.F.W. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters, especially their trips to Florida. She also enjoyed craft shows, gambling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Phyllis is survived by two daughters: Chris (& Taso) Boosalis of Mt. Pleasant and Lori (& Bobby) McGlothlen of Oskaloosa; two sons: Leo (& Karol) Kirk of Des Moines and David Kirk of Mt Pleasant; six grandchildren: Elaine (& Jon) Smith, Panayoti (& Kari) Boosalis, Sara Kirk, David Kirk, Anthony Kirk, and Alex McGlothlen; five great grandchildren: Zakari and Nikolas Smith, Ana and Alexos Boosalis, and Hayden Kirk; two brothers: Jerry (& Martha) McAdoo of Marshalltown and Ronnie McAdoo of Kent, Washington; two sisters: Marilyn Patton of Oskaloosa and Wilma Jean Adams of Red Bluff, California; many nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Geraldine Visser.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands; four sisters: Helen Randall, Connie Sue McAdoo, Judy Beadle, and Mary Lou Barth; and seven brothers: Marvin, Ray, Ivan, Jay, Jack, Buster, and Donnie McAdoo.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 21, 2017, at 10 A.M. in Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend John Allard officiating.
Visitation will begin Thursday, July 20, 2017, after 12 P.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be present at the funeral chapel Thursday from 4 -6 P.M. to greet friends and relatives.
As was her wish, Phyllis’ body will be cremated following the funeral service.
Burial of her cremated remains will be in the Friends Cemetery in Oskaloosa at a later date.
