Doris Elaine Davis, 86, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, July 16, 2017, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She was born Saturday, July 19, 1930, in Mahaska County, Iowa.
Doris attended school in Oskaloosa. On September 13, 1951, She was united in marriage to Charles W. Davis in Oskaloosa.
Doris worked various places including managing KFC in Oskaloosa for several years. She also trained Standardbred horses for many years and was very proud of them.
Doris enjoyed Bingo and going to Tama with her girlfriends Alzada, Karen and Carol. She also enjoyed visiting with people.
Her family includes her husband of almost 66 years, Charles Davis of Oskaloosa; her five children: Rickie (& Kael) Davis of Jamestown, Colorado, Deborah (& Dennis) Beal of Oskaloosa, Jo Davis of Oskaloosa, Jane (& Jeff) Graham of Harvey and Kelly (& Erin) Davis of Des Moines; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a cousin, Nancy Malis of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and a nephew, Mark Johnson of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charles Wesley Davis; two brothers, Ivan and Roy Johnson; and a sister, Dorothy Burggraaff.
As was her wish, Doris’ body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time. Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
