Barbara “Barbie” Berka, 64, of Ottumwa and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Ridgewood Nursing Home in Ottumwa. She was born Saturday, February 28, 1953, in Onawana, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Geneva Berka.

Barbie attended school in Oskaloosa. She worked for a time at McDonald’s. Barbie was united in marriage to Ed Stout and they later divorced.

Barbie was an animal lover and cherished her two cats, Shadow and Fluffy and her dog, Kizzy. Barbie also enjoyed camping with her NA group, going to garage sales with her daughters, Amy and Lisa, and spending time with her family.

Barbie is survived by her two daughters: Lisa (& John) Thompson and Amy Hubbell (& fiancé Mike Eckles), both of Ottumwa; two sisters: Candis (& Dennis) Biggerstaff of Nebraska and Connie Miller of Davenport; her close friend: Ed Stout; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Tony; a sister, Pat; a son, Adam Hubbell; and a grandson, Scotty Reddy, Jr.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa from 1 – 3 P.M. and the family will be present at the funeral chapel during that time to greet friends and relatives.
As was her wish, her body will be cremated following the visitation.
Memorials may be made to her family.
