Jeffery Long, 52, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, June 4, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. He was born July 9, 1964, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Charles and Joyce Long.

Jeff graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1983.

Following graduation, he worked on farms in Mahaska County. He worked various places including Eastlick Trucking and his current employer Precision Pulley.

On May 27, 2017, he was united in marriage to his girlfriend of over 12 years, Florence “Flo” LaRue, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jeff enjoyed fishing, camping, playing bags with friends and family, restoring cars, riding four-wheelers with his family and riding his motorcycle.

His family includes his wife, Flo Long of Oskaloosa; two children: Jeffery “Tool” (& Shannon) Long, Jr. of Otley and Jayme (& Ryan) Solomon of Muscatine; five grandchildren: Zoe Long, Bryn Long, Kendra Bueno, Nolen Solomon and Elise Solomon; his mother, Joyce Kelderman of Oskaloosa; two sisters: Glenda (& Bill) Plowman of Muscatine, and Joyce Swope of Louisburg, Missouri; two brothers: Charles (& Nancy) Long of Barnett, Missouri and David Long of Oskaloosa; brothers and sisters in law: Paula (& George) Sturms of Muscatine, Chris (& Rachel) Avis of Bluegrass, Iowa, and Troy (& Traci) Avis of Muscatine; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father; a brother and his wife, Allen (& Nancy) Gravitt; and a nephew, Derek Long.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel.
As was Jeff’s wish his body has been cremated. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Wednesday after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Wednesday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the family.
