(Delores) Patty Berry, 89, of Fremont, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Patty was born July 30, 1927, in Hedrick, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford and Gladys Bever.

Patty graduated from Hedrick High School in the mid 1940’s. On March 22, 1947, Patty was untied in marriage to Floyd Berry in Ottumwa, Iowa. Floyd died January 4, 2013.

Following their marriage, Patty worked for a florist in Ottumwa. They later moved to a farm near Fremont where the two of them farmed together. They later moved to town and she did secretary work for various companies in Fremont. They then moved to Nebraska for 17 years until retiring back to Fremont in the late 80’s.

Patty was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to coffee time at the Fremont Community Center. She was very active in the Fremont community and delivered Meals on Wheels for a time.

Patty is survived by her son, Dr. Terry (& Louwanna) Berry of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; a granddaughter, Jena Berry-Ferguson of Aurora, Colorado; three step grandchildren: Benjamin and Nick Bloom and Amber (& Todd) Moeggenberg; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Rex Bever; and a close family friend, Justin Estes.

As was her wish, Patty’s body has been cremated. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 26, 2017, at 2 P.M. in the Fremont United Methodist Church in Fremont with Dr. Kimberly Brown officiating.
Burial will be in the Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery south of Fremont at a later date.
The family will be at the Fremont United Methodist Church on Friday, May 26, 2017, from 1 P.M. until service time at 2 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Fremont Community Center or MHP Hospice Serenity House.
