Richard McVay, 68 of Montezuma passed away Saturday afternoon, May 6, 2017 at his home in Montezuma. Richard Roy McVay, the son of Russell and Beulah (Scharff) McVay was born on October 17, 1948 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Rich graduated from Montezuma High School in 1966 and attended Ellsworth Community College. On August 5, 1972 Rich was united in marriage to Margery McKeag at the Montezuma Methodist Church. To this union one son was born, Aaron.

Rich worked for Gulf Chemicals, Agrico, Farmhand and Sutherland Printing retiring in 1995.

Rich enjoyed classic cars, playing slow pitch softball, the New York Yankees and above all spending time with his family and grandchildren. Rich was an avid golfer and some of his best memories were playing golf with his brother, Gary. He was a member of the Montezuma Jaycees, serving as president for several years and the Montezuma Country Club.

His memory will be honored by his wife of 44 years, Margery McVay of Montezuma; his son, Aaron (& Kadi) McVay of Keystone; three grandchildren: Avary, Sloan and Hudson; and his brother, Gary McVay of Ankeny. Rich was also survived by his sisters-in-law: Barbara (& Bob) Albin, Joan Ahrens, Virginia (& James) Cook, and Lois McKeag; brothers-in-law: Gary (& Sarah) McKeag, Alan (& Bonnie) McKeag, Stephen (& Coleen) McKeag and Dale (& Billie) McKeag; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law: Marlin McKeag, Glenn McKeag, John Ahrens and Gary Taylor; and favorite baseball player, Mickey Mantle.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Evangelical Church in Montezuma. Holland-Coble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be held in the Pleasant Township Cemetery at Ewart.
Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department or the Montezuma Country Club.
