Donald Steffen, 63 of Montezuma passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at his home in Montezuma. Donald Edward Steffen, the son of Harold and Esther (Schooley) Steffen was born on July 25, 1953 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Don graduated from Tri -County High School in Thornburg in 1971. Following high school, Don attended Iowa State University and University of Colorado receiving his Bachelor Degree.

During college, Don worked for Funk Seed Corn during the summer months. After graduation, he worked for Dekalb Seed in the research and development department in Kankakee, IL and Monsanto Seed Company in Des Moines in the patent office. Don also managed several Kum and Go stores in the Des Moines area and worked for Motorolla in tech support for their Blackberry phones. He retired in 2015 moving to Montezuma to be closer to his family.

Don was an avid reader and enjoyed computers, collecting comic books and drinking coffee. Don also supported the Denver Broncos and the Iowa State Cyclones having held season tickets for basketball for several years.

He is survived by his brother, Tom Steffen of Deep River; aunt and uncle, Sarah and Myron Byers of Montezuma; and many other cousins and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Esther Steffen; and a brother, Mike Steffen.

Memorial services will begin at 11:00 am Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department.
