Robert William “Bob” Rouze,80, of Beacon, passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 17, 2017, at the Mahaska Health Partnership, Emergency Room, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Bob was born on May 18, 1936, in rural Hamilton, Iowa to Merle and Ruth (Williams) Rouze.

Bob attended school in Bloomfield and later graduated from Bussey High School.

In 1957 Bob enlisted in the Air Force. Bob served in the Air Force from 1957 to 1972, during the Vietnam War and also from 1980 to 1997 in the Iowa National Guard. Bob was deployed in 1991 to Germany in support of Desert Storm. Bob retired from the Iowa National Guard as a Staff Sergeant.

Bob also worked for a short time with Norris Construction and Carter Steel, and later, after his retirement from his service, he worked for Securitas until 2014.

On October 27, 1957 in West Des Moines, Iowa, Bob and Doris Ann Crandell were united in marriage. They shared over 43 years of marriage together and were blessed with five sons: Scott, Rusty, John, Merle Duane, and Rob. Doris passed away on January 10, 2001. On May 18, 2002, Bob and Loretta (Davis) were united in marriage. They shared almost 15 years of marriage together before Bob’s passing.

Bob enjoyed watching all types of sports. He was a wonderful father and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob also liked going to the casinos and playing solitaire on his computer.

Bob is survived by his wife, Loretta Davis of Beacon; four sons: Scott (& Linda) Rouze of Northglenn, Colorado, Rusty Rouze of Ottumwa, John Rouze of Garden Grove, Rob (& John) Rouze-Luke of Johnston; five step children: Rhonda (& Steve) Phillips, Robin (& Joe) Mayhew, Dorothy (& Shawn) Garrison, Doug Sellars, Danny (& Lindsay) Davis; 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Gene Rouze of Eddyville and Dean Rouze of Arizona.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Ruth (Williams) Rouze; wife, Doris (Crandell) Rouze; one son, Merle Duane Rouze; one step daughter, Nancy Hershey; and one sister, Lois Harvey.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alvin Boetsma officiating.
Visitation for Bob will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Bob’s family will be greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening.
Burial with military honors will follow services at Henness Cemetery of Mahaska County.
A memorial may be left to Bob’s family to be determined at a later date.
