The Oskaloosa City Council recently passed a Rental Housing Inspection Program, which will go into effect July 1, 2017. The registration period will be opened at that time. All housing rentals within the City of Oskaloosa will be required to be registered and will need to undergo regular inspections. To assist with the communication to rental property landlords, the City of Oskaloosa has developed a website with information pertaining to the program and has scheduled several public informational meetings. The website can be reached directly at www.oskaloosaiowa.org/index.aspx?nid=461, or by searching for “Rental Inspection” on the city’s website www.oskaloosaiowa.org.

Public informational meetings have been scheduled for Thursday, May 4; Tuesday, May 30, and Tuesday, June 27. All three meetings will be held at 6:00 PM at the Oskaloosa Public Library (301 South Market Street) in the 3rd Floor Meeting Room. All meetings will feature the same content with topics of registering properties, paying registration fees, scheduling inspections, and complying with inspection requirements. All meetings will also include ample time for a question and answer session. These meetings will be specifically oriented to answer landlord questions, but all are welcome to attend.
