WPU 25th in Spring Poll

Oskaloosa–Just as it was last year at this time, the Statesmen football team is #25 as the NAIA’s spring top-25 rating was released Monday.

William Penn (7-4 in 2016, 4-1 North) dropped one slot from the fall’s postseason poll to #25 with 34 points. WPU was also 25th last spring.

The Heart of America Athletic Conference is also represented by national runner-up Baker (Kan.) at #2, Grand View at #9, Missouri Valley at #11, and Benedictine at #24

Defending national champion Saint Francis (Ind.) is #1 with 314 points and all 14 first-place votes. Baker, Reinhardt (Ga.), Eastern Oregon, and Marian (Ind.) round out the top five.

William Penn will open its 2017 season by traveling to Baldwin City, Kan. on August 26 to face Baker in a Heart crossover game at 1 p.m.
