Cheryl Ann Wyllie, age 69, of Martinsburg, passed away at the Keokuk County Health Center on Sunday, April 9, 2017. She was born to Donald “Lindsay” Wyllie and Lena Grace Messerschmitt on Sunday, November 23, 1947.

She attended grade school in Martinsburg and graduated from Pekin Community High School. She earned a degree in education from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University), in Kirksville, Missouri and a Master’s Degree from William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Cheryl was a life-long educator who taught in Hedrick, worked for AEA and was a teacher at Evans Middle School in Ottumwa, Iowa when she retired in 2007.

Cheryl and her mother loved camping & most enjoyed camping with friends and family at the Iowa State Fair. She may have stopped camping at the Iowa State Fair but always found a way to get a famous Corn Dog & Shaken Lemonade each year. She also enjoyed driving near and far with friends to find that perfect mum or hanging basket and then to bless someone’s front porch with it.

Following the death of her father in 1963 and her brother, Thurman, in 1966, Cheryl was completely devoted to her mother who died in 2004.

She is survived by many cousins, friends and neighbors.

Memorial Services will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. in the Northgate Alliance Church in Ottumwa.
Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:30 A.M.
As was her wish, Cheryl’s body has been cremated.

Memorials may be made to Northgate Church or the Iowa State Fair.
