Oskaloosa Art Center Settling Into New Home
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Art Center has a new home in Oskaloosa, and members are excited to, once again, have a place to encourage art participation in the community.
Sarah Kargol is a member of the Oskaloosa Art Center, and she spoke about the exciting things that are going to be taking place at the new location, at the rear of what many residents remember as the Eagles building.
You can enter the new location from 1st Avenue, but if you find your way into the alley behind Smokey Row, just off ‘The Alley’ gathering space, you will find their front door.
After saying goodbye to their old location, the group didn’t realize that it would be almost a year before they were once again open, but unexpected construction delays pushed the opening back.
“It’s beautiful,” said Kargol of the new space. “We’ve got a really cool vibe in here. We love it. We’re very excited and blessed to have this area,” added Kargol.
On Wednesday night, the Art Center held its first public event, with participants painting their own pieces of pottery.
The Art Center also has 2 rental studios, a dedicated printmaking studio, and a ceramics studio. The new location features a store, where you can get some simple art supplies, as well as branded apparel.
Kargol welcomes individuals to get involved and become members, and they are looking forward to an active April, which is the group’s Arts in April.
The Oskaloosa Art Center will be hosting an official grand opening on April 27th, from 5 to 8pm.
