YMCA Fall Preschool Online Mandatory Pre-registration Available April 10

The Mahaska County YMCA

OSKALOOSA – Though the calendar indicates spring has just begun, it’s time to start thinking about fall preschool for the area’s children. Preschool Open Houses will allow parents and preschoolers to view facilities and meet early learning teams and staff. It will also be a good time to ask questions about the new, pre-registration process being implemented for this year.

The Mahaska County YMCA is requiring an on-line pre-registration for all students whose parents are interested in three- and four-year-old preschool enrollment. The on-line pre-registration will take place April 10-18. This is a required step prior to a face-to-face registration which is when payment and supporting documents must be presented.

“The on-line pre-registration,” said Preschool Director Betty Phillips, “will allow for accurate numbers when addressing numbers and placement. Limited slots are available for qualified applicants. We used this tool for the first time last year and really helps in the application and placement process. This is just the first step in the registration process. A face-to-face registration takes place April 20.”

Online pre-registration for the YMCA and its partner, the Oskaloosa Community Preschool, is mandatory and will be held April 10-18. Parents are to visit the YMCA’s web site (www.MahaskaYMCA.org) and click on the “Preschool Pre-Registration” link on the home page. Children wanting to enroll in three-year-old preschool must be three years old on or before September 15, 2017. Those wanting to register for four-year-old preschool must be four on or before that same date.

Final registration will be held April 20 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Webster. Registration fees for three-year-old preschool must be paid in full at that time and birth certificates for children registering for three- and four-year-old preschool must be presented at that time.

The Y’s three-year-old preschool has a four-day program (Monday through Thursday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.) and a three-day-program (Tuesday through Thursday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Four-year-old preschool options are 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 12:30 to 3:30 Monday through Thursday, and limited slots in an all-day option 8:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wrap around child care is also available.

More information can be found on line, www.MahaskaYMCA.org or by calling Preschool Director Betty Phillips at 641.673.7409 or Webster Office Manager Sally Herd at 641.676.1632.
