Pella, Iowa – First responders were called to the 46 mile marker along Highway 163 after the driver of a car lost control on a snow covered roadway near the Pella city limits, at approximately 6:10 p.m. Friday.

Carrie Ellen Falcon was the driver of a 2004 Chevy. According to an initial report by the Iowa State Patrol, she lost control of the vehicle on a snow covered roadway and entered the north ditch. The vehicle rolled, eventually coming to a rest on its top in the north ditch.

Deceased in the accident was James Lee Franciskovic of West Burlington, Iowa. He was was 52 years-old. Franciskovic was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.

It is reported that Franciskovic was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Two others were injured in the accident. Those include the driver, Carrie Ellen Falcon, 35, of Burlington, Iowa, and the other passenger, Shane Yorel, 25, also of Burlington, Iowa.

All were transported by Pella Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. They were assisted by the Pella Police Department, Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office, Pella Ambulance Service and Pella Fire Department.
