Joyce Flippin, 65, of Waukee, Iowa died December 10, 2016 at Taylor House Hospice. Joyce Ellen Flippin, the daughter of William and Virginia (Kline) Douglass was born on September 5, 1951 in Grinnell, Iowa.

Joyce graduated from Papillion High School. She attended Wayne State College for one year then went on to Nursing School in Omaha.

After college, Joyce moved to Alaska, where she spent 18 years raising her children and spending time in the outdoors. In 1994, Joyce returned to the Midwest and made her home in Montezuma, IA where her parents lived. She spent over 17 years working as a nurse at Brookhaven Nursing Home.

During her free time, Joyce loved working on her crafts, gardening, baking and canning, and spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons: Derrick (& Melissa) Flippin of West Des Moines, Iowa and Jarred Flippin of Ankeny, Iowa; four grandchildren: Kaylee and Emma Flippin, and Addison and Gabriel Flippin; her father, William Douglass of Montezuma, Iowa; her sister, Susan Douglass of Altoona, Iowa; a brother, Robert Douglass; and special friend, Ginger of Barnes City, Iowa.

Joyce was proceeded in death by her mother, Virginia Douglass.

Funeral/Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday December 17, 2016 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home, in Montezuma, Iowa.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home with the family present from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joyce Flippin Memorial Fund.
