Quartet Place at Simpson Invitational
Indianola–Four individuals advanced to placing matches Saturday as the William Penn wrestling team completed its pre-holiday schedule at the Simpson Luther L. Hill Invitational.
Heavyweight Matthew Cuthbert (So., Yucaipa, Calif., Sociology) highlighted the action for WPU by going 4-2 with three major decisions to finish fourth. 157-pounder Logan Loftus (Sr., Marengo, Iowa, Industrial Technology) was also fourth in his bracket, finishing 3-2 with a pair of falls.
Fabian Rodriguez (So., Manassas, Va., Business Management), with one fall and one major decision at 141 pounds, and Brad Watson (Sr., Rolla, Mo., Physical Education), at 149 pounds, both owned 2-3 records to place sixth.
174-pounder Jeremy Walters (Sr., University Park, Ill., Exercise Science) just missed the top six, ending up 2-2 with one fall and one technical fall.
Jordan Lockhart (Jr., Lawton, Okla., Communications) pinned one foe at 165 pounds, while 149-pounder Kionte Crocker (Jr., Brandon, Fla., Industrial Technology) also had his hand raised once.
Next Up: William Penn is off until 2017, returning to action on Saturday, January 7 by traveling to Pella to compete in the Central Invitational.
