Oskaloosa, Iowa – The residents in Oskaloosa started reporting off tasting water on Tuesday. Not only the taste was bad, but  that it had some odor to it.

Oskaloosa Water General Manager Chad Coon says that the off-taste is due to a lime feeder issue at the water plant, that caused the pH of the water to spike higher than normal.

Coon says that staff repaired the lime malfunction, but the water had been pumped to town already, and it is working it’s way through the system.

Coon released a statement Tuesday night, “The water is safe to drink. Our disinfection residuals were maintained at adequate levels. The concern is obviously the taste and odors caused by the high pH. This will work its way through the system and eventually dissipate. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.”
