MAHASKA COUNTY – Oskaloosa native, and winner of the Ottumwa Courier’s People’s Choice Award for “#1 Massage Therapist in Ottumwa,” Esther Rose recently joined Mahaska Health Partnership’s Massage Therapy team.

Esther’s pride for Oskaloosa and Mahaska Health Partnership has always been part of who she is. “I was actually born at MHP,” Esther shared. “In fact, two of my three children were delivered by the same doctor who delivered me!

“When the opportunity arose for a Massage Therapist at MHP, I was thrilled! I have always had great experiences with everyone I’ve come in contact with and I was excited at the chance to join such a great team while also being closer to home.”

Esther built a very successful massage practice over the last two and a half years in Ottumwa. “I previously worked in a nursing home and was always giving massages to my coworkers,” Esther explained. “They encouraged me to go to school and become a Licensed Massage Therapist. I saw an opportunity to not only provide a service I was passionate about, but also the chance to better my life for my family, so I enrolled in school.”

No matter what type of massage she offers, Esther’s top priority is working with her client to ensure the best experience. “I listen to what their problems are, take in their feedback and adjust accordingly,” Esther explained. “Everybody’s pressure preference is different, so I make accommodations whenever necessary.”

One passion of Esther’s is offering massage to patients in hospice care. “I have treated people both at home and in an inpatient setting, such as the Hospice Serenity House on campus,” Esther shared. “I enjoy being able to help patients relax and feel comfort. Whether it’s assisting in pain management or simply offering a time to relax, being able to help someone feel better is a great perk of my job.”

At MHP, Esther has joined fulltime Massage Therapist Michelle Hynick. Both therapists offer multiple types of massage, including relaxation and deep tissue, reflexology, prenatal and chair massage. Sessions are available for 30, 60 or 90 minutes.

For a preview of their talents and great discounts on massage, attend the Knotty and Nice Discount Day on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 9 am – Noon in the Cedar Bluff Learning Center, entrance #3 on the MHP campus. It’s a great opportunity to meet Esther, enjoy goodies and sample services. Wear an ugly sweater for a chance at great door prizes!
