Behm Wins National Special Teams POW Award

Oskaloosa–The recognition for Hunter Behm (Fr., West Haven, Utah, Mechanical Engineering) keeps rolling in as he was picked as the NAIA Football Special Teams Player of the Week Monday.

Behm scored all of William Penn’s first-half points in a 13-9 upset over #22 Peru State. The freshman nailed a 47-yarder and then also connected from 51 yards in the first quarter; both of his kicks rank in the top 10 for longest in school history.

The national honor is the first for the program since Leon Straughter also took home a special teams accolade in 2006.

Roundtree to Play in the Middle East

Oskaloosa–Steven Roundtree is the third William Penn men’s basketball player in the last month to sign a professional contract as he inked with a club in Lebanon.

The former Statesmen cager recently signed with Byplos Sporting Club, a Division A franchise in Lebanon. He joins Brady Burford and Josh Caldwell as members of last year’s navy and gold squad who have gone on to play professionally.

An NAIA Third-Team All-American a season ago, Roundtree helped William Penn to a 29-7 record and a quarterfinal finish at the NAIA Division I National Championships this past winter.

The 6-9 forward was the Heart of America Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year. He averaged 16.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game–both team highs. He also shot 52.4% from the field (35.3% 3-PT) and 72.6% from the line, and tallied 84 assists, a squad-best 57 steals, and 16 blocks. He was in double figures in 32 games, including a campaign-high 29 points against Grand View on February 3.

Nationally, Roundtree ranked sixth in total rebounds, 11th in offensive rebounds per game (3.3), 13th in rebounds per game, and 20th in total steals.

Chegwidden Collects First Weekly Accolade

Oskaloosa–Zachary Chegwidden (Fr., Essex, England, Business Management) was outstanding last week and his efforts earned him Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week laurels Monday.

Chegwidden won his first career honor by leading the 60-player field at the William Penn Classic last Monday and Tuesday. The freshman opened with a season-low 66 and added another red score at 68 to snap the 36-hole school record at 134 (previously 136). His six-under tally also tied the program’s two-round record according to par.

His totals guided William Penn to also setting a new 36-hole team mark at 573 (288-285).

Chegwidden currently owns a 71.9 stroke average over 9.5 rounds. All of his rounds have been in the 60s or 70s, including breaking par on six occurrences.

The award is the third of the year for the program.

Warne Earns Third Career Laurel

Oskaloosa–Elise Warne (So., Melbourne, Australia, Exercise Science) took the tournament win last week and picked up another type of victory Monday as she was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week.

A three-time career winner (twice this season), Warne led all 82 players at the William Penn Classic last Monday and Tuesday. The sophomore shot a 76 the first day and followed that up with a 75 for a two-day score of 151, assisting the Statesmen to the team title at the 14-squad event.

For the year, Warne owns a 79.1 stroke average over 11 rounds. She has six rounds in the 70s with a low of 73. Warne has posted five top-10 efforts with a pair of victories.

The weekly award is the fifth of the season for William Penn.

Pair of Field Goals Lifts Behm to Weekly Honor

Oskaloosa–Hunter Behm (Fr., West Haven, Utah, Mechanical Engineering) bombed two long field goals Saturday and was rewarded for those successful tries as he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week Monday.

A first-time winner, Behm scored all of William Penn’s first-half points in a 13-9 upset over #22 Peru State. Taking advantage of a stiff tailwind, the freshman nailed a 47-yarder and then also connected from 51 yards in the first quarter. He managed two touchbacks on kickoffs as well.

Both of Behm’s kicks rank in the top 10 for longest field goals in program history; for the year, he is 2-for-4. The weekly award is the second of the season for William Penn–both on special teams.
