Oskaloosa–The William Penn University Athletics Booster Club has announced the recipients of the August-September Player of the Month awards.

Sophomore football player Nate Van Veldhuizen (Oskaloosa, Iowa, Mechanical Engineering) claimed the Male award, while senior women’s golfer Courtney Cunningham (Muskogee, Okla., Computer Science) took home the Female honor. The award is the first for both athletes.

In five games, Van Veldhuizen rushed 58 times for 351 yards (6.1 avg.) and three touchdowns. He had a top performance of 180 yards and three scores against Central Methodist.

In four events (six rounds), Cunningham owned a 78.0 stroke average, including five rounds in the 70s (low of 74). She placed in the top 10 in all four tournaments, highlighted by finishing second once. A one-time Heart of America Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week, Cunningham helped William Penn to three tournament titles during the month.
