Carolyn Pilger, 79, of Farson, died Saturday, October 15, 2016, at the Pella Hospice Comfort House in Pella. She was born June 28, 1937, in the Compentine Township of Wapello, County, the daughter of Theodore Roosevelt and Bernadine Paxton Vannoy.

Carolyn graduated from Packwood Consolidated High School with the class of 1955. Following high school, she attended college for a while.

On August 31, 1954, she was united in marriage to Bernard Dean Wilson, Sr. To this union three children were born, Brenda, Belinda, and Bernard Dean, Jr. Bernard and Carolyn later divorced.

In the mid 1970’s Carolyn took classes at DMACC in Ankeny and earned her Commercial Driver’s License. In 1977, she started driving semi over the road. In 1984, she began team driving with Myron Pilger for Rob Day Trucking out of Omaha, Nebraska. After five years in the truck together the two of them were married on September 16, 1989, at Omaha, Nebraska. The two of them continued to team drive until 2013, when Carolyn retired from Warner Trucking.

Carolyn enjoyed driving and riding in the semi, together she and Myron visited 48 states and they found something they liked about all of them. They have many photos of their life on the road. She also enjoyed baking, gardening, cleaning and organizing.

Her family includes her husband of over 27 years, Myron Pilger of Farson; two daughters: Brenda (& Daniel) Schlup of Sibley, Iowa and Belinda Stier (& Sandy) of Monroe; a son and his wife, Bernard Dean (& Tyra) Wilson of Monroe; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four step children: Patti (& Paul) Goring of Norfolk, Nebraska, Rick Pilger of Colorado Springs, Candice Betger of Phoenix, and Randy (& Lavonne) Pilger of Kenosha, Wisconsin; and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers: Gary (& Millie) Vannoy of Richland, Jimmy Vannoy of Farson, and Randy (& Julie) Vannoy of Farson; and many nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Jari Jeannette McMahon; and two sisters, Joyce Vannoy and Diana Kay Till.

As was Carolyn’s wish her body has been cremated.
No visitation is planned. Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date.
