Oskaloosa–The Statesmen men’s soccer team was in need of a big Heart of America Athletic Conference win, but it would not come Saturday as it fell 2-0 to Benedictine.

Both teams tallied 16 shots, but it was the Ravens (7-3-1, 6-2 Heart) who were the only ones to find the back of the net, doing so in the 37th and 88th minutes.

William Penn (5-8-2, 2-6-1 Heart) unfortunately had to play a man down for a good chunk of the second half, but still produced several potential game-tying chances. Anfernee Houston (Fr., Harrisburg, Ill., Kinesiology) and Nenad Markovic (So., Belgrade, Serbia) topped the offense with five shots each.

Caleb Pipes-Goulsbra (Jr., Lincoln, England, Exercise Science) posted seven saves in the loss.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Springfield, Mo. next Saturday to face Evangel in Heart play at 1:30 p.m.
