Bussey, Iowa – The local and national news have been buzzing with clown sightings. The clown craze has disrupted school and caused extra effort for law enforcement, who are tasked with investigating calls about clowns.

Circus of Freaks creators, Trevor Pinegar and Sarah Van Hulzen, spoke with Oskaloosa News about hosting a haunted house based upon the killer clown concept.

When it comes to timing, Van Hulzen says, there are both benefits and concerns for the show.

The obvious benefit would be the increased attention and potential audience the haunted house may attract. The obvious drawback is the extreme reaction some people may have against having such a show.

The Circus of Freaks concept predates the killer clown craze, and the thought of cancelling the show wasn’t something they wanted to do. Many people have donated significant time and money into making the haunted house possible.

Van Hulzen says there are extra concerns for the actors and that the sheriff’s office advised them not to go on with the haunted house.

The haunted house, or Circus of Freaks, continues every Saturday night in October including Halloween night.

The cost is $5.00 per person. The haunted house is located at 502 7th Street in Bussey, Iowa.
