Fayette, Mo.–The Statesmen women’s soccer team failed to keep up with Central Methodist in a 4-0 Heart of America Athletic Conference loss Sunday.

William Penn (4-7-1, 2-4-1 Heart), which was outshot 19-7 in the setback, permitted two goals in the first half and then two more in the second stanza.

AnnaMarie Urps (So., Wilton, Calif., Physical Education) guided the offense with three shots, while Bre Johnson (Jr., Arvada, Colo., Information Technology) added two more attempts.

Adriana Borjon (Sr., Willits, Calif., Exercise Science) recorded seven saves in the loss.

“Unfortunately, we did not take away too many positives from tonight’s game,” Head Coach Willie McGowan said. “We let Central Methodist dictate the play from the beginning and we did not feature much throughout the game.”

“It is a little disheartening as we had been playing fairly well and were competitive the past few games,” McGowan added. “We will have to put it behind us quickly and look for a better reaction Wednesday.”

Next Up: William Penn travels to Canton, Mo. Wednesday to face Culver-Stockton in Heart play at 5 p.m.
