Oskaloosa–Ashley Miller (So., Kalona, Iowa, Exercise Science) tracked down nearly every ball she could last week, and her efforts were good enough to grab Heart of America Athletic Conference Volleyball Defender of the Week laurels Monday.

Miller, who now has two awards to her credit (both this year), tallied 58 digs (7.25 per set) in a pair of tough losses last week. Her week was highlighted by a 41-dig effort against defending league champion Evangel. Miller’s tally is the sixth-highest in school history and the highest since 2009.

She also managed one ace last week in addition to permitting just two aces in 60 total serve reception attempts.

For the year, Miller has tallied 381 digs (5.22 per set) along with 51 assists, 14 aces, and one kill. The weekly award is the second for the program.
