Letting Go Of Things – But The Memories And Love Are Still There
Oskaloosa, Iowa – For the family of Tyler Sash, letting go of his personal effects is another step in settling the former Iowa Hawkeye and NFL Super Bowl winner’s estate.
For the family and Tyler Sash’s mother, Barney Sash, it comes to a point you do what you have to do, and the family took on the task of hosting a sale at Tyler’s home in Oskaloosa.
“We’ve been able to keep some of his really personal items, but there are a lot of things that have a lot of value to us,” said Barney Sash. “We are getting rid of a lot of cool things, but, they don’t have the value to me anymore”.
Sash had a very large impact for Oskaloosa and reached out and helped many along the way. It could have been the giving of himself and his resources to help those with cancer or any other life changing condition, to helping a young athlete get some much needed shoes.
People waited for over an hour to get into the sale, with people looking to be able to own something that was Tyler’s. “I’m glad that he meant as much as he did to people, the sad thing is, I’m not sure Tyler knew that”, said Sash. “I think that he was such a humble kid, that he really, especially towards the end, whether it was confusion, may not have had total understanding of what was going on within his own life.”
“I’m thankful that people have been so kind and so good,” said Sash. “I just wish Tyler knew how much people cared.”
As people walked away with bits of Tyler Sash’s earthly possessions, Sash says she thinks Tyler would want people to “live their life as full as they could live it. To take the talents that God gave them and to maximize them and to bring glory to God and not to your own personal self. I think that’s what he would like more than anything.”
