What Your Local Government Is Doing On Monday

Oskaloosa, Iowa – County and city governments are meeting on Monday, which is the second and final regular scheduled meeting of the governing bodies for the month.

The Mahaska County Supervisors start the day off at 9am with their meeting at the Mahaska County Courthouse. They will be tackling such items as courthouse handrail replacement and revolving loan fund application with Knoxville Manufacturing. There will be a couple of secondary roads topics, including a repave project for G5T and T33.

The board will then discuss and potentially appoint members to the compensation commission.

The Oskaloosa Water Department will be holding their Monthly meeting beginning at 3pm at their 1208 South 7th location.

The water board will be discussing potential 28E agreement updates, and a potential pay increase for wastewater certification.

The board will also discuss adding fluoride back to the Oskaloosa water supply. This had been discontinued several years ago due to equipment issues.

The Oskaloosa City Council will start their afternoon with several study sessions before their scheduled 6pm meeting. The study session will kick off with a building tour and project update by the Oskaloosa Downtown Development LLC at 4:00pm. This is the former Swims building, located at 208 1st Avenue East in Oskaloosa.

At 5:00pm, in the council chambers, the council will be presented an update by the Oskaloosa Downtown Development LLC and request to amend the existing development agreement for the Swims building.

Also for the study session, there will be discussion of changes to the Oskaloosa Municipal Code regarding sidewalk requirement.

During the regular session, which starts at 6pm inside the city council chambers at Oskaloosa City Hall, the City Council will hear a 2nd quarter code enforcement report from Oskaloosa Fire Chief Mark Neff.

Also on the slate is a resolution approving the downtown alley improvement project, and considering a resolution approving and authorizing execution of an amendment to the Development Agreement between the city and Oskaloosa Downtown Development LLC.

Finally, the council will consider an ordinance to approve a parking restriction along the North 7th Street S-curve between J Avenue East and F Avenue East.
