Congressman Dave Loebsack (center) visited Interpower on Monday.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Loebsack was at Interpower Corporation on Monday to learn more about one of the world’s top producers of power system components.

Loebsack said he was also there to hear from the team at Interpower about what Interpower would like Congress to do in order to better facilitate business. Regulatory environment and workforce needs are things that Loebsack says are important for employers and businesses in order to grow and be competitive in the market.

Concerns about the economy are common issues he hears about from his constituents during this election year. “We had a good jobs report. Not all of those jobs are as good as the jobs some had before the Great Recession of 2008”, said Loebsack.

Anger with Washington D.C. is something else Loebsack says he is hearing from his constituents. “I do what I can to work across the aisle, and try to get things done”.

Interpower’s three locations in Iowa consist of Oskaloosa, Lamoni and Ames. A fourth location in the United Kingdom helps the company reach markets in Europe and beyond.

Like many business, Interpower faces economic challenges, but the company has prepared itself and forecasts the trends to better position itself for when the economy and the market begin to turn around.

Interpower is a multi-national company, and demand in places like Europe and Southeast Asia are currently subdued, “which we see as a big growth opportunity”, said Warren, in a roundtable discussion after a tour of the Oskaloosa facility.

The discussions finished with trade agreements and how they would impact Interpower’s ability to compete in the global marketplace with countries such as China.

Loebsack then headed for Albans, where he was hosting a “Coffee With Your Congressman”.
