Robert Junior Beason, 78, of Oskaloosa passed away July 31, 2016. Bob Beason, son of Harold and Vivian (Williams) Beason, was born January 7, 1938, five miles south of Lynnville, Iowa.

Bob attended country school in the Lynnville area and graduated from Lynnville High School in 1957.

Shortly after high school graduation, Bob developed Polio. Although being afflicted with Polio, he did not let that stand in the way of his leading a productive life. His work ethic remained strong throughout his entire life.

Bob started his career working for a farmer outside of Montezuma and then went to work for Massey Ferguson as a diesel mechanic. Bob was later hired at Vermeer Corporation on the assembly line and then was hired at Case International, he retired from there in 2000. Even in retirement, Bob continued to stay busy and worked at Hy-Vee stocking shelves.

Bob was a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his grandfather’s farm. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carol Beason of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Michele Fitch of Altoona; a son, Robert Scott (& Johanna) Beason of Colfax; two step-sons: James (& Rilla) Williamson and Mark Williamson of Oskaloosa; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Viola (& Fred) Metz of Newton; two brothers: Roger (& Rita) Beason of Lynnville; and Darrell (& Maggie Kriegel) Beason of Brooklyn; a family friend, Sharilyn Kuntz; and several nephews and cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tami Thompson; a grandson, Jeremy Thompson; and an infant sister, Shirley Beason.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, Iowa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma of Good News Chapel officiating.
Following the funeral services, Bob’s body will be cremated and burial of his ashes will be in Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa at a later date.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Wednesday morning, with the family present from 5 – 7 p.m. to greet visitors.
Memorials may be made in Bob’s name and will be designated at a later time.
