Indians Open Postseason With Win Over Clear Creek-Amana
Oskaloosa, Iowa – “It was a dogfight,” says Oskaloosa Indians Softball Head Coach Jay Harms of the win over Clear Creek-Amana on Saturday night.
Harms said that in the beginning, there was concern after three “sharp hits” off of Groet, who is just returning to play after suffering a concussion.
Harms said it was a good outing for Groet, “who just needed to throw, and it was a good thing to see.”
“This reminded me a lot of the Grinnell game. We were behind, one to nothing, with Groet pitching going into the 5th inning. We had a terrible time hitting their slower pitcher, and we’re popping things up and measly ground balls. It took us till about the 5th inning, 6th inning, to get things going up there too,” said Harms.
The Indians eventually won 9-1, scoring 2 in the 5th, 3 in the 6th, and 4 more runs in the 7th inning. The team is now 26-7 in the season.
The Indians will take on Mount Pleasant Tuesday night at 7pm in Oskaloosa in the 3rd round playoff action.
