Helping first responders train for an unthinkable event.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Emergency Management will be hosting an active shooter response training seminar over three days at the Oskaloosa Middle School. This class is for responders across the State of Iowa.

“I am very excited to be able to host this intense, three-day training right here in Oskaloosa,” said Mahaska County Emergency Manager Jamey Robinson.

Classes will start on the 12th, and will go through the 14th.

The simulations may startle those unaware of the training taking place, from the large police presence to live fire scenarios utilizing simunition, which is a wax bullet fired from a gun.

The training will focus on the response portion of an active shooter scenario, which will include law enforcement, fire, EMS, and emergency management from across the state.

Robinson said that the class has been fully booked with representatives from around the state.
