MAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health Partnership recently welcomed Kim Rutledge, ARNP-BC, to a fulltime role in the Medical Group Walk-In.

Rutledge has worked at MHP for the past five years but has more than 20 years experience as a nurse. “I have a passion for nursing and a strong desire to help others,” Rutledge explained. “The profession of nursing is so vast and personal growth is important to me. I feel very fortunate I have been able to progress into this advanced role in a field I love.”

Walk-In Services expanded in the MHP Medical Group in November of 2015. “Walk-in was expanded to meet the community’s request for easier access to care when an immediate medical need arises,” MHP CEO Jay Christensen shared. “We are fortunate to have two dedicated providers, including Rutledge and Nurse Practitioner Eva Sietsema, as well as additional MHP providers who assist with staffing to make this service possible.”

“I love working at MHP, there are a lot of providers here that I respect and admire. When I heard about the expanded walk-in services, I was excited to be part of something so beneficial for the community,” Rutledge said.

Rutledge’s nursing experience has spanned hospital bed-side, public health and infection prevention. “My experiences enhance my ability to diagnose and treat patients in a walk-In setting. I also have a very special place in my heart for Veterans because I worked at the VA hospital in Knoxville for 13 years.

“Walk-in is a wonderful resource for people to get treatment for minor injuries or illness without having to go to the Emergency Department,” Rutledge stressed.

In her free time, Rutledge enjoys time with her family and friends. “I’m the glue that keeps everyone together, planning events and gatherings. I’m also always taking pictures because I think it’s important to preserve today’s memories for future generations. I love to travel and go to musicals and plays.”

Walk-In Services at the Medical Group are open Monday-Friday from 7 am to 8 pm, Saturday from 7 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. MHP Walk-In is intended for one acute illness or injury per visit and treats patients ages six months and older.
