Oskaloosa, Iowa – The OHS Girls Soccer Team has been a potentent force this year, and with a 10-0 statement win over Washington, a message was sent to all other competitors. The second time this season they have won against that team in such a fashion.

The first round win ties the previous record for the team in advancing during post-season play.

The Indians second half was a solid one, scoring 6 goals to end the game under the mercy rule.

Head Coach Jodie Steinlage was happy with the win, but saw room for improvement in the first half. “Definitely came out in the second half and played our game a lot more than the first half”.

Struggling with 50/50 balls and playing to the level of their opponents has been something the Indians have struggled with during the year. “Which I guess is good when we play really good teams. But when we play teams that aren’t maybe at the same level, we’ve struggled some with that.”

“I was pleased that we came out in the second half and took care of business,” says Steinlage.

The team has amassed some impressive new records for the program this year, including most wins and most goals scored. They have held their opponents in check by having the fewest goals scored against them on average, and the most shutouts against opponents.

The team prepares to take on Clear Creek-Amana on Tuesday for second-round playoff action. Steinlage says that the team can experience success if they come to play like they did against Pella or DCG.
