Oskaloosa, Iowa – Mahaska Young Professionals (MYP) worked Saturday morning to help beautify the north entrance to Edmundson Park.

Edmundson Park was recently recognized by the Des Moines Register as 1 of the 8 most unique parks in Iowa. Others noted by the Register include; Ledges State Park, Maquoketa Caves State Park, Lewis and Clark State Park and Neal Smith Wildlife Refuge, among others.

The north entrance to Edmundson Park is often considered the main entrance by many, and project organizer Aaron Riggs spoke about the organization’s decision to tackle this project.

For Riggs and the Mahaska Young Professionals, it’s about taking the time to give back to their community, and help to make it a better place to live. “Service projects are what help make a community come together for a cause.”

Margaret White who lives near the north entrance approached Oskaloosa City Council Member Tom Walling about the beautification project. Walling then reached out to the MYP group to help make it happen.
