Mahaska County Blanketed By Smokey Haze
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The haze Mahaska County and Oskaloosa are experiencing is from wildfires in northern Minnesota and Canada. Air quality could continue to diminish over the next couple of hours.
The National Weather Service explained that a cold front coupled with southerly winds shuttled the smoke from Alberta, Candace several hundred miles south.
The smoke caused officials to warn those who could be impacted by poor air quality to stay indoors.
By early evening, the smoke had mostly cleared from the area.
