Marion G. McFarling, 80, of Ottumwa and formerly of Hedrick died Friday, April 22, 2016, at Ridgewood Specialty Care in Ottumwa. Marion was born Monday, September 23, 1935, in Milbank, South Dakota, the daughter of Alfred and Virginia Van Asch Angerhofer.
In 1953, Marion was united in marriage to Conrad Hawkinson and to this union 3 sons were born. They later divorced.
While living in California, Marion worked at Von’s Grocery Co. for over 20 years as the General Merchandise Manager.
In 1982, Marion was united in marriage to Wayne McFarling. Marion and Wayne moved to Hedrick 1990. Wayne died on January 31, 2016.
Marion was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ottumwa and of the Dorcas Club at St. Paul.
Her family includes: 3 sons: Mark (& Terri) Hawkinson, Gregory (& Betty) Hawkinson, Roger (& Phyllis) Hawkinson; 10 grandchildren: Dewayn, Robyn, Kristan, Kelley, Nicole, Jaclyn, Brittany, Holland, Richelle and Meriah; 8 great grandchildren: Rowan, Landon, Ava, Olivia, Lian, Audrey, Wyatt, Lilah; 2 sisters: Shirley Arnold and Gloria Kennedy; and a brother, Gary Angerhofer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne McFarling; her parents; a son, Donald Hanon; 5 brothers: Julius, Richard, Larry, Howard, and James; and a sister, Karen.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 2, 2016, at 11 A.M. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont with Pastor Gloria Dovre officiating.
Burial will be in the Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery south of Fremont.
Visitation will be held from 9 – 11 A.M. Monday, May 2, 2016, in the Fremont Funeral Chapel with the family present during that time to greet friends and relatives.
