The Oskaloosa Police Association with the help of S&S Painting, volunteered to clean up all trail underpasses on the Mahaska Community Recreation Trail Tuesday April 19. Jake McGee, Craig Alexander, and Heather Blommers from the Police Association and Mark Neff of S&S Painting donated time and some equipment to partner with MCRF, who purchased paint and materials. “We can get volunteers to do the work,” said Jake McGee when first approaching the project. MCRF agree to purchase materials and S&S came on board with a sprayer to make the job faster and easier for all. All seven underpasses and a RR trestle were complete in one day, removing graffiti in one fell swoop. “Thanks to our many volunteers who diligently work on the trial,” stated Sherry Vavra, MCRF Executive Director, ” we have 6 of our 13 miles of trial adopted.” “With projects like the underpasses, we call on volunteers and are swept away at those who step up when we need them!” For information on the adopt-a-mile-of-trial program call MCRF at 641-672-2499.
