Spring and summer weather allows for more outdoor activities and groups to meet. Oskaloosa Rides Bikes (ORB) is one such group that depends on those seasons to really kick off their events. ORB is a bicycle based club in Oskaloosa that was created to promote cycling to all ages and abilities in and around Oskaloosa and Mahaska County.

This weekend, the club will be having their kick off ride of the year. The 3rd Annual Oskaloosa Rides Bikes Round Osky (ORBRO) event is a easy, social ride to kick off the season. The ride will utilize the recreational trail and starts at The Cellar Peanut Pub. They will ride the trail clockwise with stops as Bobzilla’s and On The Green as in previous years. This year they are adding an additional stop by the animal shelter for FACE and ARts in April. They circle around and end at the Pub as well. Last year they had 37 riders participate, which is double the previous year. Julie McKee, member of ORB, says they are hoping for a great turnout again this year!

The ride takes place this Saturday, April 23rd and registration opens at noon. The registration fee is $20 and includes a wristband for specials, a koozie, and a raffle ticket. The raffle items include gift certificates for ORB gear, growlers from the Pub, and gift certificates to On The Green and Bobzilla’s. Additional raffle tickets are available for purchase, but anyone who signs up as a member of ORB automatically gets an additional 10 tickets! Anyone registering for the ride must sign a waiver and is required to wear a helmet, but any type of bike is welcome.
