Fire Destroys Abandoned Apartment House

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Shortly after midnight on Thursday morning, Oskaloosa Fire was dispatched to a structure fire at North C and F Ave West.

Mutual aid was called from New Sharon, and then shortly after, Cedar Township (Fremont) responded to the call for manpower to help battle the blaze.

Eventually, an aerial apparatus was called in from the Pella Fire Department, and the fire was then quickly brought under control after it’s deployment.

No injuries had been reported as of this update.

Oskaloosa Fire, New Sharon Fire, Cedar Township Fire and Pella Fire all battled the overnight blaze.

The fire departments were assisted by Mahaska County Emergency Management, Mahaska Health Partnership Emergency Services, Oskaloosa Police Department, Mahaska County Sheriffs Office, 911 Dispatchers and MidAmerican Energy made sure the utilities were secured.

No cause for the fire had been given as of the update.

McDonalds of Oskaloosa provided free coffee for the firefighters at the scene.
