WPU Releases 2016 Schedule, Featuring Two ‘National’ Games

Oskaloosa–The Statesmen football team has announced its 2016 schedule, which includes two nationally-broadcasted games.
William Penn (7-4 last year, 3-2 Heart North) first hits the gridiron on August 27 by hosting Missouri Valley in league crossover action at 6 p.m.
The next two weeks put the Statesmen in front of the national audience as part of the Heart of America Athletic Conference’s television agreement with Niles Media Group.
WPU travels to face MidAmerica Nazarene on September 3 in a rematch of last year’s triple-overtime thriller. The navy and gold then host Baker in Oskaloosa on September 10. The games, which will be aired live on ESPN3, KSMO-TV (Kansas City), and Mediacom (IA, IL, KS, MO), will all begin at 11 a.m. Contrary to the agreement’s inaugural year, there will not be a ‘TBA’ game on the last Saturday of the year for potential playoff teams.
The navy and gold finish off their crossover slate with games at Central Methodist, then in Oskaloosa against Evangel, and finally at Avila.
After its bye week, WPU opens North action on October 15 by hosting Peru State for Homecoming on October at 1 p.m. Another home matchup follows against Culver-Stockton.
A road game at Benedictine is next, while William Penn’s home finale is with Graceland. The regular season concludes on the road versus rival Grand View.
