Victim Identified In Wapello County Shooting

The Wapello County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased male in the Sunday March 13th shooting as Hugo Hernandez age 24 of Ottumwa, formerly of the Alta and Storm Lake area in Iowa.

Mr. Hernandez had recently relocated into the Ottumwa area. Wapello County Sheriff’s Deputies continue to maintain the crime scene and are continuing the investigation along with the cooperation of Agents from the Division of Criminal Investigation and the Wapello County Attorney. Mr. Hernandez’s body was removed from the scene during the investigation and transferred to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny pending an autopsy.

Authorities expect charges to be filed in the very near future on the individual currently in custody on other criminal charges from that location Erik Guadalupe Davila age 23 of Ottumwa.
